Rule 25-2 addresses a ball
embedded in its own pitch
mark in a closely mown area
through the green. This is any
area of the course cut to fairway
height or lower. " Through the
green " excludes all hazards, the
teeing ground and the putting
green of the hole being played.
If your ball is embedded in a
closely mown area through the
green, it may be lifted, cleaned
and dropped, without penalty,
as near as possible to the spot
where it lay but not nearer the
hole. See note (3) under 25-2,
which provides for a local rule
allowing free relief anywhere
through the green.
Last year marked the start of a $1.8 million renovation at Edina's Braemar Golf
Course, beginning with an upgraded, state-of-the-art 115,000 square feet driving
range and newly remodeled clubhouse. Next up: An Academy 9 Par 3 Course
redesigned for better conditions and playability for golfers of all levels. Read on
for a sneak peek of some of its features:
IMPROVED TURF QUALITY: To create a more consistent experience for all
golfers, the new Academy 9 golf course greens, tees and bunkers have been
reconstructed, and fairways have been re-grassed to provide premier playing
conditions. Each green has been enlarged and will
include two fl ags with different size cups: one with a
regulation cup and another with an enlarged cup
for beginner and recreational play.
GOLFING EXPERIENCE: With yardages
ranging from 72 yards to 230 yards, the new
Academy 9 course is more conducive to
a faster, easier and less expensive golf
game. Hazards such as sand bunkers
and wetlands have been minimized to
provide a more enjoyable, introductory
experience for children, entry-level
golfers and less competitive leagues from
the forward tees. Golfers have the option
to play from the back tees for a more
challenging game.
The Academy 9 course and new turf
teeing area on the driving range is set to
open the fi rst week in August. For complete
