MGA/PGA Cup Matches
The amateurs continued their winning streak as they defeated the professionals 28-12
during the 43rd MGA/PGA Cup Matches, May 29 at Minnesota Valley Country Club.
Although it's the sixth consecutive victory for the MGA, the win barely closes the gap
with the Minnesota PGA who hold a commanding overall tally of 27-14-2. The annual
goodwill event featured the father-son matchup of Bill and Andrew Israelson. Andrew,
a sophomore at NDSU, bested his dad, 5 and 4, to earn the MGA three available singles
and four-ball points (with partner Ben Sigel).

MPGA Four-Ball Champions
Unplayable course conditions forced the cancellation of the fi nal round of the MPGA
Four-Ball Championship, May 18 at Southbrook Golf Club in Annandale, after the
course received 3 inches of rain. Two teams were in the clubhouse tied at 5-under-par
67: Corey Schommer and Max Tylke, of the Legends Club/Links at Northfork, and
brothers Jake and Matt Witham, of Keller Golf Course. Schommer and Tylke prevailed
in a scorecard playoff. Mike Cleland and Steve Whittaker, of Pebble Creek Golf Course,
won the senior division with a 4-under-par 68.
