U.S. Women's Open Qualifying
Minnesotans Sarah Burnham and Isabella McCauley both rolled in crucial birdies on their
35th hole May 3 at Somerset CC in Mendota Heights, helping the two claim qualifying
spots for the 76th U.S. Women's Open at The Olympic Club in San Francisco (June 3-6).
Burnham, who entered her third season on the LPGA Tour earlier this spring, earned
medalist honors by shooting 2-under-par 142 and headed back to the national championship
after qualifying in 2015.
Despite a slow start to her second round Monday, McCauley, a junior at Simley High
School and the state's top-ranked prep golfer, played her final seven holes at 3-under
and capped it off with an 8-footer to save par on the final hole to claim the second qualifying
spot at 1-under 143.

University of Minnesota golfers Thomas Longbella, Lincoln Johnson and Connor
Glynn have logged a lot of time together on the golf course. Hoping to claim
one of four spots at U.S Open Local Qualifying May 4 at the Legends Club in
Prior Lake, and after several hours on the course, the three headed home with
tickets to the second stage of qualifying-together.
Johnson fired a 6-under-par 66 to earn medalist honors, while Longbella,
Glynn and professional Ross Miller each finished tied for second at 2-under-par
70 to advance to the second stage, one step closer to competing at the national
championship June 17-20 at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, Calif.

U.S. Open Local Qualifying #2
Posting a 2-under par 70 May 10 at Medina Golf and Country Club, former University
of Minnesota golfer Josh Persons and professional Jay Jurecic earned a share of
medalist honors, advancing to the second stage of qualifying for the 2021 U.S. Open.
Persons and Jurecic will move on to sectional qualifying along with professionals
Jack Hiemenz, who posted an even-par 72, and Zach Sklebar, who finished with
a 1-over 73, to move one step closer to the national championship (June 17-20 at
Torrey Pines Golf Course).
