LETTER FROM THE CHAIRPERSON

NABP Chairperson
Fellow Members,
After a very successful Annual Meeting -
NABP's first in-person Annual Meeting since
the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)
pandemic began - I'm pleased to have
begun my term as your chairperson for the
Executive Committee. As always, NABP is
serving an important role in supporting the
state boards of pharmacy and our shared
mission of protecting the public health. For
many less experienced pharmacists, and even
some pharmacy regulators, it may be easy to
simplify our Association's role to something
like " the exam people. " Of course, most of
you reading this will understand that, while
those examinations are important, NABP
provides many more services and resources
to the boards of pharmacy.
An overview of those services,
including refreshers on newer programs
such as NABP Verify, is the focus of this
month's feature story. As always, NABP is
your Association, and we want to support
member boards by offering these services.
To that end, the article also highlights several
of the services offered by the Association's
Member Relations and Government Affairs
staff. In addition to the information in
this and future issues of Innovations, you
can learn more about these resources by
visiting the Members section of the NABP
website, www.nabp.pharmacy/members.
Also highlighting NABP's ongoing efforts
to assist its members, this issue provides
summaries of two recent task forces: the
Work Group to Consider Extending Waivers
and the Task Force on State Oversight of
Drug Importation. These task forces both
performed important work in 2021 and
made several important recommendations
that were approved by the Executive
Committee. Such recommendations
influence NABP actions and decisions, and
have a long-term impact on these important
issues. Task forces and their members,
appointed by President Reginald B. " Reggie "
Dilliard, DPh, will be announced in an
upcoming issue of Innovations. There
are numerous other ways to get involved
in the coming year, including attending

your district meeting; participating in the
Tri-Regulator Symposium to share board
of pharmacy perspectives, while gaining
insight from other organizations; serving as a
panelist and/or participating in the Executive
Officer Forum; participating in an interview
for an upcoming issue of Innovations; or
presenting an educational poster during the
119th
NABP Annual Meeting. These are just
a few ways to get involved, and I encourage
you to explore the new Get Involved section
of the NABP website to learn more.
Thank you for the opportunity to
continue to serve all of you. These last few
years have certainly been challenging, but
I know we are ready to rise to any challenge,
and I stand ready to continue my service
with your Executive Committee.
