LETTER FROM THE CHAIRPERSON
Fellow Members,
It is Annual Meeting season, which is always
an exciting time for everyone involved with
NABP. I look forward to an opportunity
to meet - in person - and to discuss the
work your Executive Committee has been
conducting during the last few years, despite
the difficulties we have all experienced due to
the pandemic. Before I say farewell as your
chairperson, however, I am excited to have
this opportunity to introduce one last issue
of Innovations.
This issue's cover story is focused on an

important pilot related to the Drug Supply
Chain Security Act requirements that are
expected to go into effect on November 27,
2023. The initial work has been related to
figuring out how NABP can help regulators
and trading partners communicate with each
other to ensure that requirements are being
met and, ultimately, that the medications
patients receive are safe. This is important
work, and something that NABP will be
working hard on over the coming years.
I would also like to call your attention
to the Sterile Compounding Inspector
Training and certification program offered
by NABP, in conjunction with CriticalPoint,
LLC, which will take place in July. More
details are in the digital version of this
newsletter, which is available on the NABP
website, and at the CriticalPoint website,
www.criticalpoint.info/sterile-compoundinginspector-training.
I
am also pleased that this issue includes
a report on NABP's consumer campaign,
focused on educating consumers about
the dangers of buying medications
from unlicensed pharmacies online and
through social media. The campaign has
included television and radio public service
announcements, which feature the personal
story of Ed and Mary Ternan, who are
founders of the nonprofit charity Song for
Charlie. I want to thank Ed and Mary, who
selflessly shared their story of personal loss
and helped us create a campaign that can truly
make a difference. Because of its successes,
we will be continuing it through 2022.
I have expressed my
confidence in this
Association and the
member boards of
pharmacy and their
resilience in the face of
these challenging times.
Today, I am pleased to say
that confidence has been
well founded.
With the Annual Meeting rapidly
approaching, I want to take a moment to
acknowledge that this will be my last letter
to you as your chairperson. Over the last
year or so, I have expressed my confidence
in this Association and the member
boards of pharmacy and their resilience
in the face of these challenging times.
Today, I am pleased to say that confidence
has been well founded. Serving on the
Executive Committee has been a wonderful
experience, and I am exceptionally proud
of the work we have done together. I look
forward to continuing my relationship
with NABP and working with all of you
for many years to come. Thank you for this
opportunity and for everything you do in
pursuit of our shared mission of protecting
the public health.
Sincerely,
Timothy D. Fensky, RPh, DPh, FACA
NABP Chairperson
