Investing in a Future Labor Force: How NARSA
Members Partner with Local Schools
IT'S NO SECRET there are labor shortages
across the United States, and the cooling
systems industry is not immune to
this challenge. So how can NARSA/
IDEA members bridge the gap? Two
NARSA members recently partnered
with local schools in an effort to recruit
future radiator technicians and cooling
systems experts.
Chuck Braswell of Rocky Mount Radiator
in North Carolina has been a Board
Member at the Center for Industry,
Technology and Innovation (CITI)
High School since 2021. The goal is to
prepare young people for the workforce.
Through this program, students can
pursue a two-year Associate's degree
in Automotive Systems Technology,
Hospitality Management, Medical Office
Administration, Information Systems
Technology and Industrial Systems
Technology as a part of their high school
graduation credits. Part of this initiative
involves having students tour real
businesses like Rocky Mount Radiator.
" My goal with the students was to focus
on how we work as a team to accomplish
great things at our shop, " said Braswell.
" The importance of working in a family
environment where every job is equally
important, every employee is equally
important to our success, and how
everyone must be equally accountable
to our company and the industries
we serve. "
Students had the opportunity of seeing
each department up close. " What I found
most interesting about Rocky Mount
Radiator was how everyone worked
