Savannah. The Port of Brunswick moves
more than 16 percent of the East Coast's
overseas container cargo. Helping in that

steamships.
Georgia received a FASTLANE

be allocated under the Georgia Freight

Nationally, the demand for
FASTLANE grants continues to
grow. According to Anthony Foxx,
the Obama administration's Secretary
of Transportation, more than 200
applications for nearly $10 billion in
FASTLANE grants were submitted
by December 31, 2015 to fund projects planned for 2016. The Secretary
of Transportation awarded nearly
$800 million in grants for the year.
The USDOT expects FASTLANE
awards to reach $850 million in 2017,
sustaining the program's growth..
In sum, says AAPA's Nagle, the FAST
program has set a priority on freight that
enables the nation's seaports to boost
their contribution to jobs and economic
growth for the foreseeable future.  ●
