ABO Developments - Spring 2013 - (Page 5)
Javits Center, April 24 – 25
A message from Dan Margulies
Executive Director of Associated Builders & Owners of Greater New York, Inc.
Founding Sponsor of BuildingsNY
Permits for new housing construction in New York City were up 19 percent in 2012 from the year before.
Rents and sales prices have reached pre-recession peaks. What could possibly go wrong?
You could pay too much for goods and services, or buy obsolete technology and ruin your bottom line
despite the recovery. Fortunately, BuildingsNY is here to help.
Associated Builders & Owners has proudly sponsored the biggest metro-area industry trade show and
networking event, BuildingsNY, for more than 25 years, because builders, owners and managers need the
latest tools and information to make a profit year in and year out.
It is hard to tell where you will get the most benefi t: in the aisles where you can touch the newest technology or in the seminar rooms where you can hear about new rules and programs that threaten your business.
This year we are delighted to kick off the show with a mayoral candidates forum on housing development – your chance to preview what a new administration could mean for the city economy in general and
housing in particular. ABO is also offering an important program on retro-commissioning, a fancy name
for a new city requirement that will cost you thousands of dollars but could save you more if you do it right.
We are also happy to offer programs from BOMA, NYARM, CHIP that will help every owner and manager. BuildingsNY is an industry-wide effort.
Finally, in addition to the show, be sure to check out every article in this issue of Developments –
another reason to join ABO and learn with us year-round.
The Bigger, The Better
Riding the resurgence of the building industry — fi nally! — last year’s
BuildingsNY was a great success,
attended by over 7,000 buildings professionals, nearly 20 percent more than the
year before. And this year’s show is on
course to beat that.
But we’re not satisfied with bigger.
This year’s show will be our best.
