Part of a package of laws initiated by the city’s “Greener, Greater Buildings Plan” enacted in December 2009, Local Law 87 requires property owners and co-op and condo boards to audit energy use in and retro-commission, i.e., test and tune-up existing systems, in their buildings every 10 years. Failure to submit reports on the audit and retro-commission to the DOB by the building’s fi ling deadline subjects owners to fi nes of $3,000 for the first year and $5,000 for each additional year. | A B O D E V E L O P ME NTS • www.abogny.com Deadlines for complying with Local Law 87 are scattered according to building tax block numbers, starting with block 3, due December 31, 2013.
