OVERSTORY
Our Forests & Our Future
Despite a year of distance and disappointments,
at AFF we remain focused on the future,
working to ensure policies and markets
support forest stewardship and that our forest
sustainability initiatives regarding biodiversity,
fire risk mitigation, and especially carbon,
continue to grow.

Planting Seeds for the Future
of Family Forestry
Lois Kaufman and Dave McNamara generously give back
to AFF and the profession that gave them so much.

After long careers as foresters, Lois Kaufman and Dave
McNamara continue to steward their 53 acres in Oak
Run, California, advocating for legacy planning and AFF's
Seedling Society.

Woods, Wildlife and Warblers
Program Obtains Funding for
Expansion

After helping to improve more than 1,500 acres of family
forestland in Vermont and New York, the Woods, Wildlife
and Warblers program is expanding its outreach to include
the entire state of Vermont, giving migratory bird species
the elbow room needed to thrive.

TOOLS AND RESOURCES



Overcoming the Forester Capacity Challenge
in the Western U.S.
To provide more professional foresters to
assist landowners in western states, AFF
has partnered with the Natural Resources
Conservation Service (NRCS) to build forester
capacity across priority landscapes.

Despite the forced cancellations of in-person events and
meetings, the American Tree Farm has created a vibrant
virtual experience that continues to bring landowners
and foresters together for workshops, conferences and
seminars.

2020 Policy Wins

In a year that included a national pandemic, devastating
wildfires, and hurricanes, our members' advocacy aided
legislators in highlighting the importance of our nation's
forests in fighting natural disasters and recovering from
economic damage.
