The global marketplace is dynamic. As authors Søren
Bisgaard and Jeroen de Mast wrote, QMSs must always
be improved and adapted to the changing circumstances. New ideas and models, therefore, must be
constantly tested.23
The basic principles behind quality improvement models can never become extinct. Old models can go away,
and new models can evolve to meet the changing needs.
Organizations must continuously innovate to deliver
value to consumers by taking advantage of effective and efficient
multiple models that fit their
goals and objectives to improve
business performance.24
Quality professionals play an
important leadership role as
catalysts in communicating the
value to the broader organization. Quality professionals
use strengths, competencies,
system thinking and passion in
helping and influencing organizations to select an appropriate
framework and blend with existing
lean Six Sigma quality systems effectively and efficiently.
Advanced analytics tools are an excellent addition to
the lean Six Sigma toolkit, and it is time to take advantage of intelligent QMSs to take organizations to the next
level.

Kishore Erukulapati is a doctoral student in technology
management, quality systems at Indiana State University in
Terre Haute. A senior ASQ member, Erukulapati is an ASQcertified quality manager of organizational excellence. He
currently serves as the membership chair and vice-chair
of ASQ's Hawaii Section. He is also a senior member of the
Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and
chair of IEEE's Hawaii Computer Society chapter.

John W. Sinn is the chair of the department of engineering
technologies and a professor at Bowling Green State
University (BGSU) in Ohio. He also is the program leader
for the quality systems specialization for Indiana State
University's Technology Management Ph.D. consortium in
Terre Haute. A senior member of ASQ, Sinn holds a doctorate
in technology quality from West Virginia University in
Morgantown.
