An auditor should ensure
he or she has the proper
training, education and
experience for the specific audit.

+ External and internal environments, and risks and
opportunities.
+ The existence of relevant legal and regulatory
considerations.
+ The organization's structure, products, services and
processes.
+ Available performance and other feedback
information.
An auditor must master modern business and quality
concepts, and the seven ISO 9001:2015 quality management principles:
1. Customer focus.
2. Leadership.
3. Engagement of people.
4. Process approach.
5. Improvement.
6. Evidence-based decision making.
7. Relationship management.
An auditor should ensure he or she has the proper
training, education and experience for the specific audit,
and allocate enough time to prepare for and perform the
audit. Additional efforts to contextualize, better communicate with auditees and search for convergence also
may help overcome the perception that ISO 9001:2015 is
more difficult to audit.
The survey also gathered qualitative feedback.
Auditors highlighted the need for adequate and proper
training and that the less-prescriptive requirements
should not be an excuse for a lighter implementation and
audit.
Only time will tell whether North American auditors'
perceptions of ISO 9001:2015 change as the new and
reinforced approaches are implemented and compatibility with other improvement methods is assessed.
