Habitat - July/August 2016 - (Page 9)

chair's MeSSAge AAA is Hot, Hot, Hot! T he spring months flew by as we broke records again at AAA! As a quick recap, membership hit it out of the park on new members and renewals for another year. I am so proud of the hard work the committee and volunteers did to make this another record year. And not to be outdone, Bobby West and his trade show committee set another record for booth sales and attendance in 2016. Every year we ask, how can we top this, and every year I am astounded by all of the efforts our volunteers put forth to make this association such a success. Thanks to each and every one of you. I hope many of you were able to attend the NAA Education Conference last month in San Francisco. As always, it is great to get so many wonderful industry members together for some education and a whole lot of fun. We look forward to hosting the event in Atlanta in 2017! In just a few weeks, we will be hosting the Peggy Waskom Super Bowl event at Midtown Bowl. This event is always a lot of fun with great attendance and sponsor support to benefit GAIEF, the Georgia Apartment Industry Education Foundation. I look forward to seeing everyone there. Please mark your calendars for two great events on July 28 - the Board Walk and our July Dinner Meeting. The Board Walk is our Reverse Trade Show and is always a hit. It is your chance as an Associate Member to meet and mingle with AAA's top owner manager companies. This event sells out quickly so make your reservation today. Then stay for our July Dinner meeting with speaker Rodney Rash. Join us as Rodney provides AAA with an exhilarating and hilarious hypnotic performance. Watching our audience participants should provide lots of entertainment as they suddenly believe they are superstars, speak foreign languages and forget their names. You don't want to miss out on the fun! Moving into August, we have our very popular Apartment Market Outlook Workshop on August 12. Our panel topic is "Preparing for the Future" moderated by Tom Wilkes with Walton Communities and including Virginia Love with Waterton Residential and Janet Ham with Post Properties. Virginia is always a lot of fun with tons of knowledge, and Janet is always on point with the latest, greatest, hottest tech ideas. Join us on August 19 for the 25th Annual Can Can Ball, which benefits the Atlanta Community Food Bank. The event is in a new location at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are available. For tickets, please visit cancanball.org and for sponsorship opportunities feel free to reach out to AAA Board Members Karen Nelson or Eric Coryer who are our committee chairs for the event. And last but certainly not least, is the Georgia Apartment Association Annual Meeting in Savannah, Georgia, on September 8-11. For information and registration, please visit www.gaameeting.org. There is a lot going on over the next few months, and I hope to see you at all or most of these events. Have a wonderful rest of the summer!
