BUILDING SUPPLY INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION - Spring 2019 - 9
As the summer went on, Jack continued to frequent the hospital less and we got to be together as a family more often.
On October 5, one day before his seventh birthday, Jack was officially released from Stollery Children's Hospital and back
into the care of B.C. Children's Hospital. Having our whole family together for Thanksgiving and Jack's birthday gave
us so many reasons to celebrate and be thankful. Jack was eager to get back to school and reunite with his friends and
experience the joys of learning in Grade 2. He is back to playing the piano and is eager to play soccer, as this was something
he was not allowed to do prior to the transplant. Directly after the transplant Jack was on a lot of medications to keep his
body healthy and avoid liver rejection. We are so happy to share that he is down to just a handful of medications and will
eventually only require one.
While our experience was intense and stressful at times, we have learned so much and have grown closer together as
a result. We encourage everyone who can to donate blood, become an organ donor and find ways to support our local
Ronald McDonald House in Vancouver and the families there. From our family to yours, we wish you all a wonderful 2019.
