MIA BAUTISTA

CHRISTIAN DEANE

Mia was born in Ottawa, Ontario. She
moved to Vancouver Island when she
was 5 years old and attended the French
immersion school, Victor Brodeur, until
Grade 5. In Grade 6 she moved to Sooke
and attended Journey Middle school. She graduated from
Edward Milne Community School in June 2017. She is
ecstatic to move on and start her post-secondary education
at the University of Victoria. Mia has been accepted to the
Social Sciences faculty, which began in September 2017.
Her primary academic interests are in the languages, arts
and social science fields. She has a variety of abilities and
interests that has made it challenging to decide where to
focus her career goals. Mia is considering a double major in
Sociology and Anthropology. It wasn't until she started her
first job at Sooke Home Hardware that she realized she had
such a passion for helping others. She loves the feeling she
gets when she can help someone, and maybe try to brighten
their day. She is very excited for this next year, knowing that
she is one step closer to her career goals.
Her sponsoring company is Sooke Home Hardware, BC.

Christian is currently in his 2nd year
at the University of Calgary and is
majoring in Sociology. He is working
towards his Bachelor of Arts degree,
with plans of continuing onto Law
School. Christian competed this year a as pitcher with
the University of Calgary Baseball Team, and enjoyed his
year as a Dino. While playing with the Dinos, Christian
volunteered his time with the recruiting program.
Christian spent time with new recruits taking them to
his classes, showing them around campus, the City of
Calgary and introducing them to what life in university
will be like. Christian also volunteers with a Calgary Little
League Program, helping to teach young players good
foundational baseball skills and running evaluations for
the program. He is excited to be back in Calgary and
looking forward to another great season with the Dinos.
Christian's sponsoring store is Southridge Building
Supplies Ltd., a TimberMart store.

his high school where he quickly earned the nick name
"Props Master". He enjoyed being in charge of finding and
creating props for the productions of Annie, The Adams
