The raw data gathered from 1998 to 2014 was used for calculation of concrete growth rates and strain in various parts of the dam (Khoral 2015). From the data analysis of all the instruments, it can be seen that the concrete is growing due to AAR at a varying rate, in all directions. The average one year strain (ε1y) in concrete structure is 28.41 µε/year. However, these readings are taken between G5 and G6 while the FE model is calibrated for G1 offset of 0.400" (10.2 mm) as shown in Table 3. 5.2 Analysis of Unit Overhaul and Unit Inspection Data Runner crown seal and band seal data has been collected since the first set of overhauls. Analysis of runner seal clearance data has been used for calculation of horizontal offset between top speed ring and bottom speed ring and angle of movement (Khoral 2015). Table 3 presents the top and bottom speed ring offset on the basis of the latest turbine clearance reading. The FE model has been calibrated using G1 offset of 0.4" (10.16 mm) as shown in Table 3 and Figure 8. However, the average sixty year strain (ε60yU5) of 1704.6 µε was measured near G5. Therefore, the measured average sixty year strain near G1(ε60yU1) is calibrated based on the ratio between the unit offsets as 1704.6 x 0.400/0.15 = 4545.6 µε. The value of the measured total average strain (4545.6 µε) is in agreement with the value of the total average thermal strain that is applied in the FEA (5000 µε) to achieve the total offset. Similar value was recommended by previous research studies (Charlwood 1944). Table 4 shows the total deflections and offset between top and bottom speed rings based on the FEA. As shown in Figure 9 the values of the measured and calculated (FEA) unit offset after model calibration for G1 are 0.400" (10.16 mm) and 0.430" (10.92 mm), respectively. The corresponding measured and calculated angles in the same direction are 17.4 Deg. and 14 Deg., respectively. Therefore, the value and direction of the measured and FEA modelled unit offset are very similar. 6 RESULTS OF FEA The results of FEA indicated that there will be compressive loading on the stay vanes, which is in agreement with actual compressive residual stress measurements taken on the G2 and G7 stay vanes (Pineault et al. 33
