PCOC - Spring 2020 - 9

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT'S CORNER

The Future of Pest Control
By Chris Reardon
PCOC Executive Vice President

T

The start of new calendar year
is exciting because of both the
possibilities and challenges that
await us. Based on many years of
experience, we know that PCOC has
met those possibilities and challenges
in the past and look forward to
2020 with an eye on the future. It's
remarkable to think about the growth
of pest control in this state over the
three quarters of century and the
question is where do we go from here?
Our focus this year as we approach
the PCOC Expo in Monterey in
June is going to be on the Future
of Pest Control in California. We
understand that running a business

in California can be a double-edged
sword because, while there is a lot
opportunity to grow a business with
a large population base, it can also
be challenging to comply with the
numerous regulatory and statutory
requirements that confront us in this
state. Not to mention the political
environment that also needs constant
monitoring due to the increased
pressures related to outside
stakeholders. I know many of you are
already engaged in the social media
world, not because you necessarily
want to, but because that is how we
communicate today in this complex
media landscape. The question for us
as industry is how do we navigate this
in the coming years to make sure our
voice is heard.

Many of you have heard me say
over the last couple years that the
next decade would be the most
challenging time for our industry.
Not only because of what I noted but
things we can't control like technology
innovations, global and national
movements and the world shrinking
before our eyes. It means that we
have to be to be prepared to build
new partnerships and opportunities
for the pest control industry. I think
it's critically important to begin these
discussions in earnest because in
today's world, if you are standing
still, you're losing ground to the ever
changing environment around us.
I say embrace the future and PCOC
stands ready to lead this industry on a
course that insures our success.

To your customers, it's home.
To termites, it's lunch.
To you, it's another chance to shine.

.

There's more to this industry than keeping the pests on the run. You've got to
keep your business running, too. From offering products like Termidor to
providing outstanding customer support, we're dedicated to helping you do both.
Trust is earned. Twenty years of Termidor at TrustTermidor.com.
