6to Ways
Use
Video
at Your

Annual Event
hen it comes to the communications part of your association's
annual conference or major member meetings, there are always
a lot of details to plan. One of the elements often overlooked is
video. Sure, many associations have a videographer record some
of the general sessions, but those videos often aren't available
until weeks after the event, and by then, the momentum and
energy of the conference have been lost and members have moved
their attention on to more timely issues.
Video is a powerful communication
tool that can really help build a strong
connection between an association
and its members. The good news is that
you don't need a bunch of expensive
gear to shoot video anymore, because
smartphones have gotten more
capable than ever at shooting crisp,
high- and ultra-definition video.
Social media platforms are
placing a big emphasis on both live
and recorded video. Cisco Systems
predicts that by 2019, 80 percent of

global internet consumption will be
video content. Coupled with social
media, video is one of the best ways
to bring your event to life for your
members.
When you share video from your
event via your association's social
media sites, it:
* Highlights the great value, learning
and networking opportunities your
association offers
* Documents notable activities that
occurred at your event

* Makes members who, for
whatever reason, could not
attend the event, feel included
and a part of what's happening
I've assisted associations
by helping them create fast
turnaround videos for their
conferences and have also handled
livestreaming for them as well.
Here, from my direct experience,
are six ideas on how you can
prepare for and use video as part of
your own event.
