New renovations create
new meeting spaces
It's a great time to book a hotel room in Faireld,
California - or just about any other destination in
the country for that matter.
Hotel renovations - from the national chains to
the independently owned bed and breakfasts - are
skyrocketing across the United States. With the
evolving needs of the technologically savvy, millennial,
and social travelers, hotel owners and management are
working to ensure their facilities are up to date.
In Faireld, California alone, almost every one of the
destination's 18 hotel properties have already completed
or are in the process of completing a renovation. These
various projects, which range from room and lobby
enhancements to full interior and exterior makeovers,
have been spurred on by a substantial increase in
visitors in the post-recession years.
"After robust growth in occupancy over the last
several years in Faireld, hoteliers quickly realized
they must reinvest in their properties to maintain
guest satisfaction and ensure repeat stays of groups
and individual travelers," said Christian Wentworth,
the director of sales for the Faireld Conference and
Visitors Bureau. "These new enhancements have
wowed our returning guests and will surely do the
same with new visitors."
The local renovations are similar to what travelers
are seeing nationwide. More and more hotels are
introducing a "social lobby," where guests can power-up
their devices, connect to Wi-Fi, meet with colleagues or
conduct business privately while out of their hotel room.
Other enhancements include additional outlets in hotel
rooms to meet the ever-growing technology demands of

guests who travel with multiple devices, and redesigned
and expanded food and beverage options.
In Faireld, three of the most signicant renovation
projects have been at the Hilton Garden Inn, Comfort
Inn and the Courtyard by Marriott. These projects have
included full makeovers to lobbies, meeting spaces and
guest rooms.
"We're anticipating by midsummer to be a brand new
hotel, from top to bottom," said John McKaig, assistant
general manager at Faireld's Hilton Garden Inn. "By
the time we are done, every surface of our hotel will be
replaced, from tiles to carpet to furniture - you name it,
it will be new."
The social lobby approach has been a huge success
for both the Hilton Garden Inn and the Courtyard by
Marriott. Many travelers now utilize the lobbies as
spaces to conduct business, particularly if they are in
smaller groups, allowing larger parties the opportunity
to use the hotel's designated meeting rooms.
"The change that technology is bringing to the
generation of today is changing the way we all interact
with each other," McKaig said. "Our lounge has really
become a social hub. It's a new way of thinking."
Faireld, best known as home to the Jelly Belly Factory
and Anheuser-Busch Brewery, also offers a rustic wine
region in Suisun Valley and beautiful outdoor areas to
explore. Non-hotel meeting locations include Jelly Belly,
the Solano County Events Center, Vezer Family Vineyard,
Il Fiorello Olive Oil Company and Wooden Valley Winery.
For a unique experience off the beaten path, visit
Faireld, California.
