About Cansia And Our
Exciting Future
THE CANADIAN SOLAR Industries Association (CanSIA) is a national trade association that has advocated on behalf of the solar
energy industry in Canada since 1992. We proudly represent manufacturers, installers, developers, builders, owners, engineers,
consultants and a variety of other companies and stakeholders that want to see solar energy grow in Canada. On behalf of our
members, CanSIA promotes the unique economic, environmental and technological benefits of solar energy in Canada. We believe
that our role as an industry association is not only to represent our members on issues of the day, but to position the industry for
sustainable growth for years to come.
Our changing future
On Nov. 28, 2019, the memberships of both CanSIA and the Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA) voted on the
proposed amalgamation of the two organizations into a new multi-technology association. The overwhelming endorsement of the
proposal by members of both associations demonstrated clear support to proceed with amalgamation on July 1, 2020 as a priority.
This new organization will deliver a significantly strengthened value proposition to the members of both associations and allow us to
bring forward comprehensive solutions and advocate with a stronger voice to increase the deployment of solar energy, wind energy
and energy storage technologies across Canada.

frequently on homes, farms and commercial spaces. In addition to the environmental benefits of solar, generating your own energy
