TO BEGIN WITH OUR WRITERS | NOS RÉdACTEURS ABOVE_ALISSA NORTH is an Associate Professor and the Director of the MLA Program at the university of Toronto's Daniels Faculty. Alissa is the author of Operative Landscapes: Building Communities Through Public Space (Birkhäuser: 2013). She is a Founding Partner of North Design Office Inc., a Toronto-based landscape architecture office established in 2005, which develops inventive approaches to solving challenging urban issues for the built environment. 1_BERNARD ST-DENIS est professeur agrégé à l'École d'urbanisme et d'architecture de paysage de l'Université de Montréal. Il est responsable des programmes de baccalauréat et de maîtrise en architecture de paysage. 2_JOANNE PROFT is Manager of Community Planning at the university of British Columbia's Vancouver Campus where she brings an interdisciplinary perspective to a range of policies and plans for the public realm. After graduating with Master's degrees (Planning and then Landscape Architecture from the uBC), Joanne worked on a range of large scale urban transportation and public planning projects both locally and internationally. She is now thrilled to be back on campus and participating in its exciting transformation. 12 LANDSCAPES PAYSAGES 3_ROBERT McINTOSH, BES, MLA, is a landscape designer at Janet Rosenberg and Studio in Toronto. He completed his Master of Landscape Architecture at the university of Toronto, and prior to that, earned a degree in Environmental Studies, Honours Planning at the university of Waterloo. His passions are travelling, photography, canoeing and backpacking. 7_JASON HARE, BED, MLA, is the FABLab Manager at the Faculty of Architecture at the university of Manitoba. Working towards an inclusive space, the FABLab's focus is on merging education and facilitation of digital means of craft. Jason's personal work is focused on processes and how specific actions generate design practices. 4_SHELLEY LONG, BEnD, MLA, BCSLA Intern, is a Landscape Designer at Hapa Collaborative in Vancouver. She is interested in cross-disciplinary environmental design processes, the application of design theories in practice, and the relationship of Canadian identity to the country's landscapes. 8_ELISE SHELLEY is the principal of Elise Shelley Landscape Architect and an Assistant Professor at the university of Toronto. Her academic work on children's play-spaces has been presented at several international conferences. As well as creating award-winning urban play-spaces, Elise is certified in Playground Safety Inspection by the National Recreation and Park Association. 5_JORDAN LYPKIE is a MLA thesis candidate at the u of Toronto and holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design with Honours from uBC. His work explores the intersections between humans and non-humans, immaterial networks taking material forms, and the role of design in composing new landscapes that conflate cultural and ecological systems. 6_ALEXANDER REFORD is the director of Les Jardins de Métis (Reford Gardens) and a founder of the International Garden Festival. He was made an Honorary Member of the CSLA in 2001. He welcomes the participation of LAs in altering and improving the landscapes in and around the gardens created by his great-grandmother, Elsie Reford, in the 1920s. 9_PHILIPPE LUPIEN pratique au sein de Lupien et Matteau et enseigne à l'École de design de l'UQAM. Il est architecte (OAQ) et architecte paysagiste (AAPQ), et il agit à titre de membre des comités consultatifs Jacques-Viger de la Ville de Montréal et GPAT de Culture Montréal. Philippe anime sur les ondes de Artv, Télé Québec et TV5 monde depuis 2002, l'émission Visite libre consacrée à la vulgarisation de la pratique architecturale dans l'habitation au Québec. 10_KAMILA GRIGO is a MLA candidate at the university of Toronto. She holds a Master's degree in Eastern European Studies and a Bachelor's degree in Art History and Visual Culture.
