INDUS T RY NE W S MHEDA MILESTONES Lyon Emerges from Bankruptcy with New Management and Financial Backing On May 7, Lyon accounted a joint venture between newly-formed Lyon Capital Partners, LLC (formerly Echelon Capital) and Revere Finance closed on the acquisition of substantially all of the assets of Lyon Workspace Products, LLC, and its affiliates. On January 19, 2013, Lyon filed a voluntary petition for relief under Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code, and after 110 days, the business was sold to the joint venture in an auction after an affiliate of Echelon Capital purchased the senior debt from Capital One. This transaction will allow Lyon to shed legacy obligations and emerge with a strong balance sheet led by new ownership with substantial industry experience. Liftech Equipment Recognized for 25th Anniversary Liftech Equipment Companies was recognized for its 25th Anniversary on May 9, 2013, at the Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY) annual dinner in Syracuse, NY. Each year, MACNY presents success awards to local members that reach significant milestones in operations. Liftech Equipment Companies incorporated in September 1988 and provides industrial and construction equipment solutions to New York State, Connecticut, Western Massachusetts, Northern Pennsylvania and Vermont. Briggs Names New COO Briggs Equipment promoted Chris Meinecke to Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Briggs USA. Meinecke has been with Briggs for more than 22 years, the last three and half of which he has served as Chief Operating Officer of Briggs UK. In his 70 MHEDA | new role, Meinecke will be responsible for managing all US operations, growing the US business and building the Briggs brand across the country. Ralphs-Pugh Goes Solar The Ralphs-Pugh Company is converting to solar powered electricity for its 40,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Benicia, CA. Bill Pugh, the company's president, said, "With a temperate climate and an average of 262 sunny days per year, our location is ideal to maximize the use of solar energy." The solar power rooftop system, engineered by Helio Power Solar Solutions, Murrieta, CA, is projected to provide 90 percent of the company's annual electricity needs. Harrell Joins SI Systems SI Systems, a subsidiary of Paragon Technologies, Inc. appointed John Harrell as Director of IT Solutions. Harrell has over twenty-five years of experience managing software development teams and applying innovative system concepts to software engineering in the automated material handling industry. Yosemite Software Adds to Programming Team Yosemite Software Solutions has added John Jakic to their software programming team. John has more than 10 years of experience in programing software applications for the forklift industry and extensive software experience with the following languages: C#, C++, Visual Basic, Java, COBOL and MobileFrame. John's initial responsibility will be to create and update manufacturer price book data for Yosemite Software's flagship product, Sales Rep's Assistant (SRA). Towlift Donates Forklift to Foodbank Towlift, Inc. donated a Jungheinrich lift truck to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank. The Mid-Ohio Foodbank will use the 4,000 lb. capacity stand-up end control lift truck at its main warehouse center to assist with the food distribution to locations in central and eastern Ohio. Last year, the Foodbank distributed more than 46 million pounds of food to residents in central and eastern Ohio. The new lift truck will support the Foodbank's mission by helping to get large loads of food in and out of the warehouse for distribution. Thombert Achieves ISO Certifications Thombert, Inc. has achieved certification in both the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System and the ISO 14000:2004 Environmental Management System. These certifications apply to the company's Newton, Iowa, and Brooklyn, Iowa, manufacturing facilities. Personnel Changes at Quality Lift Trucks Quality Lift Trucks, with operations in Chula Vista, CA (Headquarters), San Marcos, CA and Tijuana (Baja California), Mexico, has made three personnel changes. Chad Hines assumed the role of General Manager of Quality Lift trucks starting in May 2013. Evelyn Martinez has assumed the role of Accounting Manager over this past year and Antonio Pineda is now Branch Manager of the Tijuana (Baja California), Mexico operation. Duck Commander Makes Right "Call" with Hyster Lift Truck Hyster Company has supplied one of its Hyster J35XN lift trucks to the duckmen of Duck Commander, makers of world-famous duck calls.
