PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

PROUD "PEOPLE"
JAMIE TURRENTINE, CAGOI
AFA President 2018

Even though we each
may have a different
perspective of our
industry, we all come
together as people
with a common goal
for our industry.

"P

eople" (plural): human beings
making up a group or assembly
or linked by a common interest.
People. It is all about the people. Fun people, smart people,
kind people, hardworking people, good people, etc.
We all fit into one or more of the above categories, but even if in the same categories, we are all
still unique in our own way. The way we learn,
the way we perceive our teachings, and/or those
we learn and gain experience from is different for
each and every person.
The fence industry has grown in many ways, size
and number, suppliers, installers, products and
technology, to name a few. But, even though we each
may have a different perspective of our industry, we
all come together as people with a common goal for

our industry. We become teachers to one another,
as well as family and friends to one another, to
become a community. Our industry community
is unique in a way that we come together to learn
from one another, to share with one another to
become the best "people."
As we continue to educate people in classes,
to expand our schools for people regionally and
nationally, for certification for people in our industry, and to promote young people in our industry
to join young professionals, we can all be proud
"people" of our industry. The American Fence
Association is for all the people.
Sincerely from one of your "persons,"
Jamie Turrentine
President
