FLORIDAForests - Spring/Summer 2019 - 17

The Arbor Day Foundation's Community Tree Recovery program
connects project ideas to corporate sponsors and donors interested
in helping communities replenish their lost canopy. Since January,
the Florida Forest Service, in partnership with ADF and other sponsors, including FedEx, International Paper, Texas Roadhouse and
Verizon, have given away 11,500 trees to residents, while engaging
six communities, four counties, two college campuses and several
volunteer organizations.
All trees planted or distributed through the Community Tree Recovery
program are native species and were grown in Florida nurseries. Additional
events are planned across all counties impacted by Hurricane Michael in
the coming years as communities continue to recover. *

"THE EVENT WAS SUCCESSFUL AND VERY WELL ATTENDED. EVERYONE WAS GRATEFUL,
AND IT REALLY BROUGHT THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY TOGETHER."
