In October 2015, co-chairs of PWB Atlanta's Membership Committee Michelle Valente Lee, Managing Attorney of the Gwinnett Office of Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP (MMM), and Lattice Hardwick, Sr. Mortgage Banker with Ameris Bank, attended PWB Atlanta's Elevate event. There, while talking with Lattice's guest, REALTOR® Sylvia Gause, Michelle discovered that Sylvia and Lattice were working together as partners in the Homes for Heroes ® program. The Homes for Heroes ® program was created after the tragic events of 9/11 as a way to say "Thank you" to the men and women who provide extraordinary services to our community. Heroes across the country can register on every day and are matched with Homes for Heroes ® Affiliates in their area. Michelle. "Like our colleagues at Ameris Bank, we can really have an impact by spreading the word of this worthwhile program throughout our involvement in the lending and real estate community. MMM's affiliation can have far reaching effects beyond just each closing that we are involved with, especially since our attorneys are very engaged in their communities outside of the office and within the lending and real estate communities through various leadership roles in the industry." MMM's management embraced getting involved with Homes for Heroes® immediately. They agreed that all of their offices would each have an affiliation to support the program and ultimately help as many heroes as possible. Earlier this year, the roll-out of MMM's participation in Homes for Heroes ® took place, and the company already has clients in the pipeline that will benefit. Lattice notes: "Michelle and I are friends and co-chairs of the PWB Membership Committee, and now we are both affiliated with a national program that is set up to give back to people that have given so much of themselves and who deserve to realize their dream of home Ongoing support Intrigued and inspired, Michelle decided to pitch this program to MMM. "We take up several charitable initiatives each year but this affiliation is one that can remain ongoing by giving back to the heroes through each closing," explains Michelle. "Adding to our company's existing initiatives felt great," continues 31
