LE T T ER F RO M T HE PRESIDE N T Protecting Your Interests By John Cooper the Greater atlanta Home Builders Association (HBA) is working hard to make sure that your voice is heard and that your interests are protected in our nation's Capitol, in the state house, in our county commissions and in city halls throughout the Atlanta region. When you joined the HBA, you automatically became a member of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Home Builders Association of Georgia (HBAG). Both these fine organizations are a strong 813814_StrucSure.indd 1 and powerful voice on legal, regulatory and legislatives issues facing our industry. None of us have the time or resources to go to Washington, DC or to our state capitol to engage in this fight, but as a member, you are supporting the effort. NAHB estimates that in the last year they saved the typical homebuilder roughly $5,707 per new home built by defeating onerous federal regulations and laws. On a local level, we work hard to protect your interests. Whether its tree ordinances, zoning or building codes or permit fees, we are actively working on your behalf. While you are busy rebuilding and growing your business, we are busy working for you. One of our strongest tools in these efforts is B‑PAC. B‑PAC is the non‑profit political action committee affiliated with our Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association that supports pro‑housing political candidates and elected officials on a local, regional and statewide level. On your dues invoice, you will see the B‑PAC donation line. Please be generous in support B‑PAC. It's how our industry's voice is heard. Besides, you don't have to wait for your time to renew to support B‑PAC. You can send a donation at any time to the HBA offices. Just make the check out to B‑PAC. I challenge you to support B‑PAC and make an impact-right here where you live and work. In closing, I want to thank you for your membership and participation in the HBA and to always encourage you to do business with a member. 27/07/16 4:46 am7
