GHCA: All for All
By David Snell, GHCA President
was honored by the abundant support extended to me at the GHCA Convention at Amelia Island.
Ricky Dykes has left a great legacy of hard work and dedication that has resulted in many positive
accomplishments for our association. We will continue that proven method as we move into a new
year. I am excited to be surrounded by a great leadership team in Darrell Robinson and Michael Bell.
They bring with them a wealth of experience and expertise in our industry.
We had a great convention, and for those who attended I would hope you would agree that everything (other than the soggy weather) was excellent. We appreciate Governor Deal taking time out of
his busy schedule to give us his views on his transportation plans for the future while also entertaining our suggestions. Coach Stallings gave a very inspirational speech during Saturday morning's
general session. We were also honored to present to a very deserving Mr. Arland Carroll our Lifetime
Achievement Award on Saturday night at the President's Ball. David Moellering and his staff did a
fantastic job of planning and coordinating all the events throughout the weekend.
As we all know, funding or the lack thereof remains the critical issue for our association and
our industry. The GHCA has made it a top priority to remain fully engaged in the funding process at
all levels of government: county, state and federal. David Moellering continues to utilize the solid
relationships he has built with the governor's office, the legislative branch and the leadership of
the Georgia DOT to present our views on the need for a robust funding program. We will, as always,
continue to advance and protect our position on all the various issues that affect our industry at the
Georgia DOT and the legislative branch.
During my two year term as president of the GHCA, I pledge to represent all members with dignity,
sensitivity and most importantly equality. We are a diverse organization spread across many miles with
variety of issues. I am here to promote and support each of you during these challenging times. ●
