APEX 12 Awards Celebrating Houston's Commercial Construction Industry THE AGC HOUSTON APEX COMMITTEE has been busy for the past few months planning this biennial event, which recognizes AGC Houston members for excellence in construction, community contribution and commitment to skill, integrity and responsibility. The design and construction industry will come together on Saturday, September 10, 2016 to celebrate the winning projects at The Astorian. The special evening will also honor Paul Bell, Jr., P.G. Bell Company, a two-time AGC Houston Chairman and Board of Directors member who served on the Collective Bargaining Committee and helped to establish much of the current AGC labor policy. Of special note this year is that the General Contractor and Specialty Contractor award categories have been revised and the entry form simplified. "We wanted to streamline this process to facilitate the submissions and encourage every General Contractor and Specialty Contractor to enter their noteworthy projects," stated APEX Committee Chair Cynthia Birdwell, Andrews Myers, PC. A luncheon is planned on April 7, 2016 to review the new submittal process and requirements. Due May 27, 2016, all APEX entries will be submitted via an online portal, which we're truly excited about. This luncheon will prove to be helpful for both companies who have entered their projects in past years as well as for companies who may be submitting an entry for the first time. AGC members are highly encouraged to attend the luncheon to learn about the new submittal process. Projects considered for APEX awards must have been completed between April 1, 2014 and April 30, 2016, and must also be located within the 24 counties that comprise the AGC Houston Chapter territory. It's only fitting that the theme for APEX 11 is the art deco period. The venue is situated in a historic warehouse building, which has been completely restored and incorporates design elements influenced by the movement. "We are encouraging everyone to wear an outfit that reflects the Great Gatsby period and enjoy this celebration," Birdwell said.
