But rarely-beyond studying what lessons have been learned-do most people spend time reflecting on themselves. Few stop to think about how they found their path to a career, reflecting on the people who guided them, the opportunities they knew of and options that they had-but you were different, YOU DID reflect. Many of you realized that you were alone on your journey. I hear every day from folks: "I had no idea I could do that when I was 17." Architecture meant you were an artist; engineering was all about math; and if you gravitated toward construction, it equaled callouses and dirt. Thanks to your dedication in the A/E/C industry, you wanted high-school students to gain a better understanding of our industry, business, profession and trades. Because of the numerous companies and individuals who support ACE Mentor Houston, we are helping to shepherd students into understanding the complexity of the A/E/C industry. It is with a great amount of gratitude that we thank you for supporting our mission, students and mentors. As we embark on our 9th year in the Greater Houston Area, ACE Mentor Houston could not do it without the continued support of the AGC and the AIA. Last year, we served nearly 300 students throughout our city. Over the course of 18 weeks, we introduced them to the countless careers in architecture, construction and engineering, and started unraveling our world to them so that they can find a path that suits them. We provided scholarships to 26 students to continue their studies or learn a trade; and we are now starting to see program alumni return to our city to pursue their dreams. We look forward to the upcoming 2016-17 school year. We plan to grow our eight locations, have our best Build it Forward event ever, introduce an internship program, and expand transportation opportunity for students to attend ACE Sessions. Please get in touch with me if you have any questions and you can always find out more about ACE Mentor Houston at acementor.org/houston. Thank you again for your generosity and support.
