Cornerstone - Fall 2016 - 9

FROM THE PRESIDENT/CEO Survey Says ... Within the last month, AGC Houston has released the results of two different surveys. To all those who responded, I offer a very heartfelt thank you. I know that you often receive inquiries from us or AGC of America to give your opinion regarding a type of survey; your participation is always greatly appreciated. But more on that later. The first survey the chapter released was the 2016 Houston Area Commercial Construction Industry Wage Survey. In cooperation with five other local trade associations, a third-party organization gathered wage information for more than 60 trade classifications in the region. From an industry standpoint, what the data revealed was that an individual committed to working in a trade can have a very If you happen to get an email from us referencing a survey, please take a moment to answer the questions and let us know what you are thinking. In collaboration with the Construction Career Collaborative (C3) and the Greater Houston Partnership's UpSkill Houston initiative, the chapter is working hard to make sure these wages are spread to a greater number of skilled workers. The most recently released survey is the 2016 AGC Compensation and Benefits Survey. For more than 15 years AGC Houston has participated in this survey, which gathers salary and benefit information for executives and employees at all levels. This year seven other Texas Chapters have agreed to participate in the survey and provide information- through a third party-from members in their markets. With a majority of firms still expecting to hire or replace personnel in the future, the compensation data available in the 100-plus page report could prove invaluable in the search. Now, back to those surveys in general. Whether you dine at a restaurant, buy a new set of tires or download an e-book, you are almost certain to receive a customer satisfaction survey to fill out. This has created what many refer to as "survey Kim Mason: Director of Safety Services kim.m@agchouston.org Shannon Giordano: Director, Membership & Events shannon.g@agchouston.org Tamara Hancock: Executive Administrator, Government Affairs, Industry Liaison tamara.h@agchouston.org Amy Mui: Director of Finance amy.m@agchouston.org JERRY NEVLUD AGC HOUSTON fatigue." While I certainly understand the fatigue-I admit I can be susceptible to it as well-I hope that you will take time to answer our surveys regarding your satisfaction with our services and benefits. From an association standpoint, your participation is invaluable. Surveys are a great way to find out what each of you thinks regarding specific issues and it provides us with measurable and quantifying qualitative data. We always want to hear from as many members as possible and a quick survey can help to give us great insights. Later this year, the chapter will hold a Strategic Planning session to discuss the course of action for AGC Houston. Your opinion is very important to the process. So, if by chance, you happen to get an email from us referencing a survey, please take a moment to answer the questions and let us know what you are thinking. Through the responses we receive, our chapter will chart a course in the Strategic Plan. We want to ensure that it takes into account your feedback! ■ Anavell Trevino: Administrative Assistant/ Database Management anavell.t@agchouston.org Brenda Ward: Administrative Assistant/ Building Services Coordinator brenda.w@agchouston.org AGC Houston Mission Bringing people together to advance the issues important to the commercial construction industry. 9
