Get to Know Your
Newest Board Members
John Barnes,
LEEDĀ® AP, Senior Vice President,
Linbeck Group, LLC
John was born in Smyrna, Tennessee (a
suburb of Nashville) to German-Irish parents. Growing up as the son of an Air Force
NCO, John's early childhood was spent
in Tennessee, South Carolina, Texas and
Kansas. John graduated from high school
and college in Kansas, holding degrees in
technical drafting and a B.S. in architectural
engineering from Kansas State University.
He has served in multiple construction
and project management roles over the
past 32 years. John's focus is in the planning, organization, and leadership of
construction projects in the healthcare,
education and cultural market sectors. John
has been with the Linbeck Group, LLC for
20 years and is an active member of AGC
Houston, having taught AGC lean classes
as a certified lean instructor, a panelist
for the Leadership AGC program classes,
and currently serves on the Membership
Committee. In 2002, he received the AGC
Houston Standard of Excellence Award. He
has spoken at conferences for the American
Society for Healthcare Engineering - ASHE
and is a member of the Texas and Houston
Association of Healthcare Facility Managers.
John is married with two step-children
and four grandchildren. He's an avid golfer,
cyclist, chef and winemaker and has completed the MS 150 Houston to Austin
bike ride for the last two years. Volunteer
activities include serving on the Houston
Livestock Show and Rodeo - Wine Sales
Committee; the Multiple Sclerosis Society;
the Star of Hope and the MD Anderson
Sprint for Life.

Randy O'Donnell,
O'Donnell/Snider Construction
Randy O'Donnell co-founded O'Donnell/
Snider Construction with Trey Snider in 1991.
Randy is a third generation Houstonian, continuing his family's tradition of a career in
construction. In the years since the firm's
establishment, it has grown to 100-plus
employees, expanded into multiple industry
sectors and completed thousands of successful commercial construction projects.
After graduating from the University of
Texas with a B.S. in architectural engineering, Randy honed his construction skills at
Gierhart Vaughn and Tellepsen. In 26-plus
years at the helm of O'Donnell Snider, he
has increased his expertise across a wide
variety of industries including healthcare,
corporate interiors, new construction, landlord services, industrial, retail, hospitality,
automotive dealerships, restaurants and
country clubs.
Randy's hobbies include anything his
children are involved in as well as charitable
events and the occasional fast car. His wife,
Kelly, along with partners, own and operate
Back Row Home, a highly successful interior
furnishings and lifestyles company with an
emphasis on French and American antiques.
Randy and Kelly have been married for
over 24 years and have four children. The
O'Donnells attend St. Cecilia's Catholic
Church, and enjoy golf, travel and entertaining at their lake house.

Phil Nevlud,
Houston Managing Director,
Marek Brothers Systems, Inc.
Phil started his career at Marek Brothers
Systems, Inc. in the early 1980s, paying
his way through college while working
as a field hand. After graduating from
SamĀ Houston State University with a BBA in
finance, he was hired as a project manager
at Marek Brothers in Austin. Phil returned
to Houston in 1989 and took on a larger
role at the company in estimating and
sales. In 2007 he was promoted to a new
position as MAREK's Sales Manager/Chief
Estimator-a position he held for nine years
before accepting his current position.
Phil currently serves on the board of ASA
Houston, is a previous member of the Texas
Construction Association board (TCA) and
is a past president of the ASAT board.
Phil and his wife Kelli have been married for 29 years. They have two children-
the oldest recently graduated from Texas
Christian University, and their youngest is
a student at The University of Texas. In case
you wondered, he is Jerry Nevlud's brother
and grew up in the Houston Heights.
Phil's interests are his faith and family. In
his free time he enjoys dancing, reading,
working in his yard, restoring old furniture
and cruising around in the '70 GTO that
he restored.
