More than ever, consumers expect companies to be open, honest, transparent
and able to provide an authentic experience. That requires consistency across
touchpoints, whether the consumer is connecting with the company onsite, on
the website, on an app or over social media.

Authenticity is about who you're being, not what you're doing," Taylor said. Any effort to reach consumers, then, must be congruent with company ideals and image and therefore make sense to be

small businesses have failed to take full advantage of this fact - if any advantage at all. Entrepreneur magazine recently
reported that 97 percent of internet users conduct online research on local products and services before committing to
buy. But almost half of small business owners' websites are not accessible via mobile, and 45 percent of small businesses
don't have a website at all.

How to make it work in 2017
Does your business have an updated website with relevant information? Is
it accessible via mobile? This is a crucial step in going to where the customers are, because it's obvious they're on their phones.
