Chapter Interest as a Bellwether
to ISEE Success

something. "
This definition according to MerriamWebster.
In the investment community,
bellwether is a leading indicator for economic
trends.
I believe ISEE Chapters are the bellwether
for our industry.
Since March,
ISEE has seen large numbers of members
interested and participating in their
regional chapter events. In May alone,
250 plus people attended the Best in the
West Conference hosted by our Black
Hills and Northern Plains Chapters. Our
Blue Grass Chapter saw over 60 turnout
at their member appreciation event
at Keene Horse Park, and our Eastern
Pennsylvania and Potomac Chapters
combined to host training for over 100
people.
When asked about the success of
their Member Appreciation event, Bluegrass
Chapter Past-President, and ISEE
Chapter Committee Co-Chair, Brian
Lewis said " We can do all the phone
calls and Zoom meetings in the world,
but at the end of the day people want to
connect in person. We create this opportunity
by hosting social events such as
golf scrambles and clayshooting along
with re-training classes to allow members
to come together for networking
and enjoyment. "
This also explains the dramatic increase
in the interest in starting new
professional and student chapters. Since
the start of the year, ISEE has fielded
inquiries for new chapters in the US,
South America, Africa, and Asia. " There
is pent-up demand for knowledge sharing "
says Danny Ray Leach, Eastern
Pennsylvania Chapter Leader and ISEE
Chapter Committee Co-Chair. " COVID
prevented our industry from gathering
for two years and social gathering such
as clay bird shooting are a great way to
start getting back together and reconnecting
with regional members. "

region, a member's experience in ISEE
can be as unique as the value they receive
from their local chapter. Supporting
our members through vibrant chapters
is paramount to ISEE. The needs

so ISEE needs to have products and services
aimed at the unique needs of our
members throughout the world.
ISEE
chapters are in the best position to help
deliver on that value proposition.
ISEE membership stands at over
3,200 individuals with members found
in 78 countries. Currently, ISEE has 28
professional chapters. ISEE has an additional
22 student chapters.
This summer, The ISEE Chapter Committee
launched a membership survey to
gather data on how member needs have
changed since COVID. Results of the
survey will be shared on the ISEE website,
e-newsletters, and a future issue of
this Journal.
Moreover, ISEE leadership, chapter,
and committee leaders will review the
survey results, gather additional data,
and begin the process of turning this information
into products, programs, and
services to better your member experience.
This includes leveraging and building
on our existing partnerships to bring
you important content and resources.
Our mission " To advance the science
and art of explosives engineering " continues
to drive our decision-making process.
