ISTAT Remembers Matt McGrath
Former ISTAT member Matt McGrath passed away
13 February, 2016, after an extended illness. Matt was
an employee of commercial aircraft leasing, sales, and
trading company Automatic and its preceding companies.
Matt graduated from the University of Central Florida,
and got his start in the aviation industry with a helicopter
airline in Orlando, Florida and then delved into the commercial leasing aviation
industry in 1995. He worked in the industry for 23 years. Matt is survived by his
brother Patrick McGrath, sister Marianne Kremer and sister Erin McGrath-Begley.
He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and colleagues in our industry.

ISTAT Remembers Colonel Richard
"Dick" Lee Spaulding
Colonel Richard "Dick" Lee Spaulding, USAF (retired),
of Potomac, MD, passed away peacefully on 4 May, 2016,
surrounded by his family. He did tours in Korea in the 49th
Fighter Bomber Group and flew F-84's in combat. After
his Korean tour of duty, he worked in the Secretary of
the Air Force's Public Relations Office in New York City. He retired from active
duty in 1958 and served in the Air Force Reserve until his retirement in 1981.
He was one of the founding members of ISTAT and served as its president
from 1987-1989. After his retirement, he founded Spaulding Aviation, an
independent consulting company dealing in the sales and leasing of aircraft
around the world.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marie, five children, eight wonderful
grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Ft. Myer Chapel, and interment at Arlington National
Cemetery with full military honors at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Montgomery
Hospice, 1335 Piccard Drive, Suite 100, Rockville, MD 20850 or the Air Force
Association, 1501 Lee Highway, Arlington, VA 22209-1198.

Appraiser Exam Results
Ten candidates successfully passed the examinations conducted in February
at ISTAT Americas in February.
Five established appraisers passed the Senior Technical Exam and achieved
senior appraiser status. These were: Bob Cowgill, Bryson Monteleone, Stuart
Rubin, David Tokoph, and Chris Wills.
Five more candidates were advanced to certified appraiser. These were:
Michael Lapson, Frank Meijer, Sarah Smith, Mike Yeomans, and David Yu.
The next opportunity to take the appraiser exams will be in Barcelona in
September, alongside the ISTAT Europe event.
