Boeing's Current
Market Outlook
for 2014

MAX Speed - With the "heart of the market"
for new single-aisle airliners being those sized
from 150 to 170 passengers, it's no surprise that
Boeing's new 737 MAX program passed a major
milestone-achieving 2,000 orders more rapidly
than any of the Boeing airplane in history. The
MAX reached that point in spring 2014 and has
continued to grow since then. Since its first
order, the 737 MAX has captured more than
50 percent of the new orders versus its direct
competition. On track to begin final assembly
in mid-2015, the 737 MAX will fly in 2016 and
deliver to launch customer Southwest Airlines in
the third quarter of 2017. (Boeing photo)

'Strong and resilient' aviation market sees 4 percent uptick to
$5.2 trillion value over next two decades
In its fresh look for 2014 at the expected world airliner market
over the next two decades, jetliner maker Boeing foresees a
global demand by the world's carriers for 36,770 new airplanes
between now and 2033.
It represents an increase of more than 4 percent from Boeing's
last annual forecast, fueled by continued fast-growing needs for
single-aisle planes due to their network versatility as well as the
continued growth of low-cost carriers (LCCs).
As debuted at this summer's Farnborough International
Airshow, 2014's edition of the long-running and well-respected
Current Market Outlook (CMO) pegs the list-price value of those
new deliveries at an estimated $5.2 trillion.
"This market is strong and resilient," said Randy Tinseth, vice
president of marketing, Boeing Commercial Airplanes and the
company's chief forecast spokesperson on the occasion of the
launch. "With new and more efficient airplanes entering service,
the growth in air travel is being driven by customers who want
to fly where they want, when they want."

Again, a Single-Aisle Year

This Boeing infographic outlines the highlights of the company's
annual and well respected Current Market Outlook on commercial
aviation released in July 2014. This year's CMO slightly moves up
the forecast value for jetliner deliveries from 2013 to 2033, to
$5.2 trillion. (Boeing graphic)

Boeing expects that single-aisle planes carrying from 90 to
230 passengers will continue to rule among the industry's market
segments, continuing a trend seen for some years running.
"2014 was the year of the single-aisle airplane," Tinseth told
Jetrader in talking about the new forecast. "When measured by
demand in terms of units and value, it's the largest market at
25,680 new airplanes-70 percent of the forecasted units, and
50 percent of the expected value."
Among single-aisle products, based on the overwhelming
number of orders and deliveries, the plane maker see the "heart
