candidates to explain how they would deal with a day-to-day
appraiser issue. An example of this could be having two different parties ask for an appraisal of the same aircraft. There are
ethical and practical issues to deal with, and the answer could
vary according to the speciﬁc issues and exactly what is required
of the appraisal. In the long term, we will need to address the
elephant in the room that is appraiser training.
The elephant in the room that we are dealing with now is
the continuing education program. We now have three working
groups, each consisting of several appraisers, that are working
to deﬁne the program and the details of how we achieve a more
credible long-term development program to ensure quality and
consistency of appraisals and appraisers. More about that in the
next issue of Jetrader.

At the ISTAT Americas conference, we also dealt with the
administrative issues of board appointments.

as one of the two senior appraisers on the IAP, and welcome to
Doug Kelly, AVITAS, who replaces her.
