Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT). ISTAT was
founded in 1983 to act as a forum and to promote improved
communications among those involved in aviation and

sell, purchase, finance, lease, appraise, insure or otherwise
engage in activities related to transport category aircraft.

Dear Fellow ISTAT Members,
Due to popular demand, we were back in Barcelona for the 2013 ISTAT Europe
conference. Once again, you supported this conference with record numbers
approaching 900 attendees. The weather was perfect (mostly), and lots of jamon
iberico was enjoyed! We should all thank the conference committee of Dick Forsberg,
Mike Skinner and Phil Seymour for their hard work in the months leading up to
the conference.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to all the attendees as well as our
sponsors for the Europe conference. Without this support, we would not be able
to provide a ﬁrst-class conference experience for our members.
While the industry has faced several challenging years since the ﬁnancial crisis
of 2008, there was a tone of cautious optimism in the program and in conversations in the halls of the hotel during the conference. We hope this momentum
continues in the industry.
A new feature unveiled at this conference was the Meeting Space-pods that
could be reserved by member companies for meetings. This feature was a great
success, and we expect to continue to offer these at future conferences.
We now look forward to the three holiday parties on 4 December. The two
original holiday parties take place in New York and London, and the new location
this year is Tokyo, which carries on the momentum that we experienced in that
city during ISTAT Asia in May.
In the new year, we look forward to seeing everyone at the 2014 ISTAT Americas
conference in San Diego, Calif., 16-18 March 2014.
