AOC EW Europe 2015 The Journal of Electronic Defense | April 2015 48 T he 2015 AOC Europe Conference, now in its 15th year, is scheduled for 27-28 May 2015, with a PLATH Intelligence Workshop taking place on 26 May. The Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre has been chosen as the venue and offers superb facilities and enlarged exhibition space in response to increased demand following the hugely successful 2014 event in Edinburgh where 45 nations were represented. The 2015 Conference will follow a well-proven format of presentations, Q&A and discussions in a relaxed atmosphere with networking events, lunches and refreshments for delegates included. The conference agenda is full and includes twin tracks with top speakers from the military, government and academia, agencies and industry covering the 2015 theme of "Future EW - Innovation, Information & Interoperability." The AOC is the international Electronic Warfare advocacy association with more than 13,500 members worldwide and now in its 51st year. Once again, AOC EW Europe will be supported by the AOC's logistics partner Clarion Events and local European Chapters, including the Swedish Artic Roost. As Nations re-focus on contingency operations after well over a decade of counter-insurgency there are many challenges and opportunities for governments, the military, academia, science and technology and industry. Events in 2014 have reminded us of the deadly nature of RF guided weaponry and that the counter-insurgency threat has not gone away, but intensified. Almost all operations are enabled by the whole panoply of Electromagnetic operations: SIGINT; C4ISR; precise navigation and timing; targeting; communications, spectrum management and the whole gamut of EW. AOC EW Stockholm 2015 will look at future EM operations and EW from three connected perspectives - innovation by industry, government agencies and academia, the importance of information (including cyber) and interoperability both of capabilities like EW, SIGINT and ISR, and between services and partners in joint, combined and coalition operations. The twin-tracks will focus respectively on operations, capability and defense lines of development, and industry developments and inventiveness. To ensure a strong future, all must work harder than ever to evolve thinking and capability for EW and related electromagnetic capabilities like C4ISR, Spectrum Management and Signals Intelligence, across all the operational environments - maritime, land, air/space and information, including cyber. NATO nations recognize the electromagnetic environment as an operational maneuver space; nations are implementing far-reaching changes based on this new understanding. The future battle space will be congested, cluttered, contested, connected, complex and constrained and nowhere more so than in the EM environment. The role of EW has never been more important than today and is set to increase in the future. With all the initial exhibition space now sold out, a strong speaker line up and the largest number of delegates ever expected, the AOC's EW Europe remains the meeting place of choice for the EW professionals from every background To enquire about sponsorship opportunities and delegate bookings please visit Intelligence Workshop: Tuesday, 26 May Sponsored by PLATH After the positive and lively feedback of all participants during the last workshop in Edinburgh, the Intelligence Workshop in Stockholm will also provide a professional kick-off event for the EW Europe. The positive atmosphere of the workshop triggered a spate of new ideas and insights on COMINT in general and connected a wide range of EW-professionals from governmental organizations as well as from the industry. The 6th Intelligence Workshop will follow this track by touching on latest developments in strategic Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR), highly mobile COMINT, communication jamming, naval Electronic Support Measures (ESM) and the challenge of crypto and metadata.
