Message from the MASBO President A Paul Ilchena, MASBO President We are behind the scenes, making sure the buses are running, the schools are in good shape, the staff are in place, working in a safe environment and, of course, being paid correctly - and on time! s my year as President of MASBO progresses, I continue to be amazed at how involved our organization and members are in the education community. We are often sharing knowledge and ideas with each other - surveys, phone calls, round table discussions, etc. What a wealth of information! The support between Divisions is always a strong component of any MASBO activity. A lot of these sharing activities also happen outside of MASBO events, but these events provide an opportunity to foster and develop these connections which is made possible by the efforts and willingness of all our colleagues. As an organization, MASBO also participates with our educational partners to provide knowledge and expertise to assist in the steering of the public service function of education in our Province. We are continually being asked for our opinions and input on initiatives or issues as they arise. Thanks to our past and present executive members and our membership as a whole, our voice is being requested, heard and respected. We have a solid working relationship with Provincial education departments where we work as partners to achieve solutions to whatever problems or issues arise. We should be proud of and continue to support these relationships. As MASBO members, we are in Business and Operational roles that allow us to contribute to the service of educating our young people. What an awesome opportunity! We are all contributors to this service to our communities and to our students. We have a high level of professionalism, integrity and sense of service. We establish and maintain positive working relationships within and outside of our divisions. We are behind the scenes, making sure the buses are running, the schools are in good shape, the staff are in place, working in a safe environment and, of course, being paid correctly - and on time! The right technology is in place, both for educational and administrative purposes as well as all the appropriate administrative and financial functions that are needed to make sure the Division operates effectively and efficiently. That's what we do! We contribute by being problem solvers and making the education system tick. Thanks to Roy, Michelle and the Executive for all the work they do to provide the opportunities for our organization to continue to be valued and relevant. I am honoured to have the opportunity to serve our organization as together we continue to do good things in our supporting roles in educating our young people. The education system needs us - it's that simple. I wish all members a successful 2015 and look forward to seeing everyone at our convention in June! ■ 7 * MASBO NEWS 2015
