create a supportive work environment.
MHFA teaches skills in how to provide
help to others, and gives people the confidence to help people experiencing a
mental crisis in the best way possible.
I feel doing both courses is necessary.
Everything learned can contribute to a
working environment that is helpful,
supportive, inclusive and empowering. I
can't say enough good things about these
two courses. People are thirsty for this
type of knowledge in their workplaces.

MHFA. As a lot of my colleagues work
directly with the public, MHFA filled
the gap as it teaches you how to help
someone who is experiencing a mental
health problem or crisis.

Q: What are some key
takeaways that you've learned
through both programs?
A: The biggest takeaway for The
Working Mind training is definitely
leaving people with a new perspective
about mental health and self-awareness.
It teaches self-care skills which I find
people are really interested in learning.
It also promotes help-seeking, which is
excellent.
For MHFA, I feel the biggest takeaway is a higher level of confidence
in addressing mental health issues

Q: Are the skills learned
through the training applicable
outside of the workplace?

head-on and helping others. I find the
participants learn certain skills and
apply them to both their jobs, as well
as their personal lives.
From my view, the biggest takeaway
from both courses is reducing the stigma
surrounding mental health problems
and illnesses.

Q: Would you recommend
that employees/managers
take The Working Mind or
MHFA training?
A: I would 100% recommend that participants take both courses, as they teach
different things. The Working Mind
teaches you about mental health and
illness, implications specific to the workplace, how to spot signs and symptoms,
how to engage in self-care and how to

A: People have told me they are using
these skills every day with their families and friends. Some have suggested
they sought help due to the information
taught in the courses. After completing
the training, I usually hear at least one
person say, "I wish I knew this information 20 years ago" and "Everyone should
take this course." It never ceases to amaze
me the impact these courses have on the
participants and how grateful they are to
the employer for offering them.
I cannot stress enough how impactful these sessions have been for the
employees in my workplace. They have
been a catalyst for a culture change in
the organization I work for. It has made
the other mental wellness efforts put
forward by my employer a lot easier
because they have that initial buy-in
from the staff and leadership (through
these training courses).
There are many reasons why employees should consider taking both The
Working Mind and Mental Health
First Aid training. To learn more
