I hope you and your families had a wonderful and safe holiday season and a
Happy New Year!
It is always amazing how quickly the holiday season comes upon us and then is gone in a
flash. I hope you are able to reflect back on 2015 with some fond memories, perhaps meeting
a special person in your life, engaging a new long-term customer or perhaps learning a new
skill. The meetings industry brings us to so many different places, creates so many different
emotions, challenges and opportunities for us, and hopefully it fulfills our true inner passion -
being a part of the best and most gratifying industry in the world: HOSPITALITY.
I know for me personally, I am so grateful to be involved in the meetings industry and,
more specifically, with MPI. We are all given such an opportunity to learn, develop and
contribute on a daily basis. I feel very strongly about the responsibility we all share together;
whether you are a supplier or a planner, the opportunity to represent our industry proudly
and to always promote hospitality as a great career choice, continuing to engage the
younger generation into our field. Imagine where our industry would be if each of us took the
responsibility to recruit one young person in 2016. Our industry would be much better off, so
that is my challenge to all of us!!!
As we head into 2016, I am very excited to continue working with the great Board of
Directors at MPI Greater New York. I can't say enough about the amazing team we have
built, and I am so proud to be a small part of all of the great things happening. I hope
in the last six months you were able to attend one of our excellent educational events,
an After Six Mix, the Auction & Mixology event or the holiday party. All of these great
events are produced by volunteers, a team of professionals completely dedicated to the
Greater New York Chapter - thank you, MPIGNY team! A special shout out as well to
Kathie Stapleton, our executive director. Kathie's wisdom, knowledge and patience has been
invaluable ... thank you, Kathie!
Lastly, I truly believe the most important piece of this puzzle, the reason we all do what
we do each day as volunteers is to serve you, the membership. You have been so incredibly
supportive, engaged and willing to try new things. It is the membership that makes us go, so
on behalf of the entire Board of Directors, THANK YOU! We are always available to you if you
want to get more involved in our chapter; we have terrific committees that you can engage
with or, if you have some ideas or suggestions, we are always willing to listen.
So on to 2016 ... it will be an interesting and hopefully great year for all of us. I wish you all
