#industry news IBTM AMERICA LAUNCHES A NEW SHOW FORMAT THIS SUMMER BY MARGARET VICTOR I Photo by Chris Cooper n consultation with the industry, and members of the U.S. Advisory Board who identified the need for trade shows to prioritize the amount of face-to-face time that meeting suppliers secure with elite buyers as part of their attendance (in the most cost effective way), Reed Travel Exhibitions has launched ibtm america - a brand new trade show experience that achieves these objectives. The new show format will accommodate 250 international and U.S. suppliers who will meet with 250 of the most prestigious planners in the global meetings industry. Both buyers and suppliers will be doing business inbound and outbound from the U.S. Hosted buyers will be a mixture of planners from the corporate, association, incentive, governmental and agency sectors. The four core elements of the new concept are: * Exhibitors and buyers will take part in a mutual match system for their appointment diary. This means both parties choose who they wish to do business with; this is the first time exhibitors have been given this option. EXHIBITORS AND BUYERS WILL TAKE PART IN A MUTUAL MATCH SYSTEM FOR THEIR APPOINTMENT DIARY. * Hosted buyers will be rigorously prequalified, personally invited and will include the most senior decision-makers with guaranteed purchasing power. * There will be more touchpoints with times, building on the request from the market for more community engagement. * We will introduce a new show layout. All exhibitors will be on an equal-level playing field - each meeting pod is the same and everything is included in the price. The 8-foot-by-8-foot, all-inclusive meeting pods will be ready for the arrival of the exhibitor and there will be no more additional costs associated with set up or tear down, no freight or drayage giving a hassle-free way to exhibit. Each hosted buyer will have 30 pre-scheduled appointments, giving exhibitors a similar schedule of meetings over the course of the event. Building further connections, the community of ibtm america will join together for personalized networking events, and the inspirational ibtm professional Knowledge Forum.
