@MPIGNY - Summer 2015 - (Page 7)
Robert O. Sanders Jr.,
ello MPIGNY members,
It my distinct honor to communicate with you today as your new president,
and I look forward to serving you in the coming year! As president-elect, I have
had the pleasure of working with such distinguished leaders from our industry, including
Meghan Schilt, our Immediate Past President (IPP), and Carvie Gilikin, who will serve as our
IPP for the next 12 months. I have learned so much from Meghan and Carvie, and I want to
say THANK YOU in recognition of their hard work and dedication to our chapter!
I am also very excited to announce that Suzanne Medcalf, who has served brilliantly as our
VP of Communications the last two years, will be starting in her new role as President Elect
on July 1. Suzanne brings an amazing amount of experience, energy and enthusiasm to this
position, and I am sure you share my confidence in her ability to lead us next year!
As we look to the year ahead, we are excited to be working with a full slate of directors
once again this year, as we set about to serve you and all of our members, and continue
our efforts to grow our chapter and deliver value. It is always a challenge putting together
an engaged and committed board, but we are pleased to share with you that our mission is
accomplished! We also have developed an impressive group of new board members who will
work with existing members as they move through their MPI volunteering careers. We have
spent a lot of time and energy as a team focusing on the needs of our members, and respond
to their key requests immediately. You are the reason we are here, and the reason we all
volunteer and work so hard to achieve the results we do.
Our membership continues to grow under the direction and watch of Tom Andrika, our VP
of Membership. He continues to do an amazing job with his team, focusing on the specific
needs of our membership and growing and retaining members. We also will continue to focus
on our educational events, and we look to our new VP of Education Ramel Kelly to develop
innovative and valuable programs. If you have a hot "topic" you want us to take a look at,
please feel free to share it with us.
Additionally, we will continue working closely with Chapter Business Manager
Bryan Lavin to ensure that we remain focused on the key metrics from MPI Global, including
new member growth and retention, and keep a close eye on our finances and accounting,
our strategic planning and, of course, our fantastic Greater New York events. Our new VP of
Finance Carly Roncagloi-Marotta has hit the ground running in managing our finances. And,
on the events front: We will continue to offer our golf outing in July, along with Mixology, the
Genies and the ever-so-popular After Six Mixes!
Finally, we salute the amazing marketing and communication plan led by Josh Novick,
as he is moving up to a VP role, working closely with an outstanding committee, and
Kelly Fillipone, who will be right there in the director's role supporting all of the great work
In closing, I wish to extend a most sincere note of gratitude to our Board of Directors, for
its commitment and sacrifice to this chapter, and to our Executive Director Katie Stapleton,
who has helped me so much through this transition.
I hope everyone has an amazing summer. Please keep us posted on what we can do
to serve you better and, of course, if you know of anyone who might want to join us as a
member, please let us know.
