Tools for the Trade Volvo Compact Track Loader The MCT110C compact track loader is the latest addition to Volvo's C-Series line of compact loaders, filling a gap between the MCT85C and the MCT125C. The MCT110C has a rated operating capacity of 2,250 pounds, a single loader tower arm design, and a Tier 4 Final four-cylinder engine (74 hp/55 kW) with an advanced combustion system that cuts emissions while increasing fuel economy. Due to the cooled-exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), common rail system, and fixed-geometry turbocharger, a diesel particulate filter isn't required in the engine. The automatic idling system returns the machine to idle if controls aren't operated for 5 seconds. This reduces fuel consumption and noise. Once the operator resumes controls, the engine quickly reverts to the preselected speed. Service intervals for the new toolholder have been doubled to 500 hours and service can occur at the job site. The HT22 has enlarged contact areas between the upper and lower parts, which transfer the cutting force to the lower part of toolholder, increasing the useful life of the milling drum. The maximum longitudinal wear of the upper part of the toolholder has been doubled in relation to that of the conventional version, and the newly designed system has a larger shank cross-section and optimized shank geometry to increase the strength of the shank and provide greater resistance to deformation. Older Wirtgen machines may be retrofitted for use with the new toolholder system. Unique for a plant in this class, it can run up to 30 percent recycled asphalt pavement (RAP). It is built around a counter-flow drum and is designed for greater uniformity of the aggregate veil during the drying process, which results in improved heat transfer and fuel efficiency. To enhance portability, a hydraulically driven swing out drag and batcher can be set up in just 10 minutes. Other features include a reverse-pulse baghouse, a controls cap with fully automated PLC controls, gravity take-up with direct drive, air ride suspension, and up to five cold feed bins and two RAP bins.
