High-Visibility Garment Standard Revised
Standards for high-visibility clothing were revised earlier this year to
specify color combinations for retroreflective garments, and now includes
optional accessories like gloves and headwear. Although the color
combinations were not changed, the revised ANSI-ISEA 107-2015 standard
now merges the roadway safety and public safety classifications for
consistency. The standard also now specifically identifies "off road" garment
use (Class 1) and "roadway" garment use (Class 2 and Class 3). Consistent
with MUTCD and FHWA requirements, ANSI Class 2 garments are required
for daytime use, while Class 3 garments are for either day or nighttime
use. Such retroreflective garments should be worn during most, if not all,
road construction activities, especially in active work zones. For additional
information on high-visibility garments, see the International Safety
Equipment Association's "PPE Perspectives" at http://goaspha.lt/2cb1PUX or the
Laborers Health and Safety Fund of North America's "Can You See Me Now?
Visibility in Work Zones at Night" at http://goaspha.lt/2cIsUmU.

Moore Retires as World of Asphalt
Committee Chair, Kelly Steps Up

NAPA President Mike Acott, NAPA Chairman
Kevin Kelly, and World of Asphalt Committee
Chairman Rick Moore at the 2016 World of
Asphalt ribbon cutting ceremony.

Rick Moore of Lehman-Roberts
Co. is stepping down as World of
Asphalt Committee Chairman after
more than a decade of growing the
event and tradeshow. In 2016, World
of Asphalt had record-breaking
attendance registrations, exhibit
booth sales, and educational session
ticket sales. 2016 NAPA Chairman
Kevin Kelly of Walsh & Kelly Inc.
has volunteered to step into Moore's
big shoes. "Rick Moore has done
an outstanding job for NAPA and
the asphalt pavement industry,"
said NAPA President Mike Acott.
"His guidance helped make World
of Asphalt one of the Top-25 fastest
growing tradeshows in the country.
On behalf of the industry, I thank
him for his service." AP
