Proceedings  conservation and efficiency. This year's Symposium is entitled "The Future of Water and How Much Will it Cost: Tools and Techniques for the Future of Water Sustainability". It will have five presentations in the morning followed by afternoon breakout sessions in which participants can interact on issues related to planning, regulation, infrastructure solutions and funding. Mary Ann Dickinson of the Alliance for Water Efficiency will be the keynote speaker. It will be held October 23, 2014 in Boxborough, MA. Our Committee continues to support conservation related initiatives in New England that have an impact on water system managers and users. Of note are statewide water conservation efforts in New Hampshire and a review of the Water Conservation Standards in Massachusetts. Both of these initiatives have been supported by multiple members of our committee. Being a resource for conservation topics continues to be one of the key reasons our members participate. After cancelling a planned joint workshop with the Public Relations committee in 2012, the committee once again tried to put together a workshop for the spring of 2014. Despite having an outline in place and tentative speakers secured, volunteers and staff were ultimately stretched thin with ACE '14 and other work commitments, therefore the event was not held. Through a request from Board Member Lisa Gove, the committee has reached out to NEWEA for a joint education opportunity. NEWEA has been developing three classroom based education programs on water resource issues. One of those modules is based on conservation and the general consensus was our committee would be suited for developing it. Issues regarding branding, financing, and management of the final materials are under discussion and the committee hopes to develop the module in the coming year. The need to review and update conservation related best management practices, white papers, and other documents on the NEWWA website is on our radar. This past year we have been inventorying the documents and we hope to begin reviewing them in the coming year. Sustainability Committee Submitted by Blake Martin, Co-Chair The Sustainability Committee has decreased somewhat in the level of activity undertaken from 2013 to 2014. This year's focus has been supporting the efforts to broaden/expand the October symposium. Our intent to bring sponsors and NGO's to this important symposium has led to a broader audience and hopefully a greater presence for NEWWA in the non-utility market. The need to provide educational opportunities for our members regarding sustainable watershed management, climate change and utility resiliency planning, and ongoing sustainable practices relative to the water-energy nexus is on our radar for 2015. Water Resources Committee Submitted by Mike Metcalf, Chair The Water Resources Committee has met four times since the last Committee Report in August of 2013. Two of these meetings were via conference call and two were in person meetings; one at the Manchester Water Works Water Treatment Facility in Manchester, NH and one at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA during the Spring Conference and Exhibition. There are currently 17 active members on the Committee which can generally be broken out as follows: * Water Utility - 5 * Consultant - 5 * Regulatory - 3 * Association - 2 * Industry/Education - 2 In December of 2013, Brian Goetz stepped down as Co-Chair of the committee after five years as either Chair or Co-Chair so that he could pass on the reins and concentrate on representing NEWWA on the Stormwater Collaborative. Brian remains as a Committee member however. The Committee would like to extend its appreciation to Brian for his years of leadership and for his tireless efforts in organizing the Committee's signature effort, the annual Water Resources Symposium. As in past years, the major undertaking for 2013 was the coordination of the Water Resources Symposium. 2013 marked our 14th straight year of holding this event. This has been a joint effort with the Groundwater and Conservation Committees; however, in 2013 we combined efforts with the Sustainability Committee to incorporate their Sustainability Congress into our symposium agenda. 36 Journal NEWWA March 2015
