Raken Streamlines Daily Reports
BY DEBRA WOOD

CONTRACTORS ARE SAVING TIME by using Raken for daily

reporting.
"It's faster than any other daily report method we have used,"
says Rich DeLacy, a project superintendent with Hensel Phelps in
Los Angeles, a member of multiple AGC chapters. The company
has been using Raken for nearly two years. DeLacy had tried
three other daily reporting programs before settling on Raken,
which he calls the "best he's every used."
Sergey Sundukovskiy, PhD, co-founder of Raken in San Diego,
California, explained that Raken's functionality is centered on
compliance and focuses on delivering the most individualized
and timely reports as possible.
"I like its ability to be used in the field with an iPhone app
or iPad app, with talk to text," DeLacy says. He described using
Excel for such tasks as "very painful."
Users can enter notes verbally, since the app has voice recognition features, or by typing. Multiple superintendents can enter
information throughout the day as activities take place, with no
need to try to remember everything that happened at the end of
the day. Users can add photos or videos, depicting work performed
throughout the day.
DeLacy estimates it saves field engineers several hours per day,
since they do not need to transcribe subcontractor daily reports
into a common document. Raken automates that process, totals
information and brings in photos.
Throughout the day, project managers can look at progress
being made on the app's dashboard and can pull daily or weekly
reports. It helps those managers stay abreast of key activities
on the jobsite. The information is uploaded to a cloud at regular
intervals to avoid data loss in the event of a crash.
All of the reports are searchable, so if the project manager
needs to look back and find an incident - perhaps a fall from a
ladder - he or she can quickly access that day's report.
The app works well for large or small projects, Sundukovskiy
says. The reports could be used in any subsequent disputes.
Raken saves the reports electronically, so there is no searching
through binders with handwritten notes.

Raken makes daily reporting easier.

The app allows subcontractors to enter their information
directly into the system. Subcontractors can use the system
without purchasing the app. However, Sundukovskiy says many
subcontracting firms decide they like the app and will purchase
it for themselves.
"It is super easy to use and very intuitive," DeLacy says.
"There's not a lot of training that has to be done."

AGC of America recently launched the AGC Career Center, an online portal for job seekers and employers in the
construction industry. For individuals seeking career opportunities in construction, the AGC Career Center allows
you to search job postings from across the country by location, keywords, categories, and experience level, as
well as to post your resume for prospective employers. Employers are able to quickly and easily sign up to post
available jobs, browse viewable resumes and get notifications delivered via email when new resumes are posted.
