Constructor -March/April 2013 - (Page 9)
THIS ISSUE MARKS THE COMPLETION of my fi rst full year as editor-in-chief of
BY JEANIE J. CLAPP
Constructor magazine. In the blink of an eye, I’ve gone from packing for Honolulu
to attend AGC’s annual convention to planning for this year’s event in Palm Springs.
In between, we accomplished quite a bit.
In between, I attended numerous association and industry events and met hardworking individuals dedicated to the industry and to the AGC. Most recently, I flew
to Tampa, Fla. for AGC’s Safety and Health Committee meeting and was thoroughly
impressed with the program caliber and the united front shown by members toward
worker safety. To read a more detailed account of the meeting that took place in
January, go to: http://ow.ly/hKkrF.
In between, the Constructor team developed six print magazines filled with stories
aimed to entertain and educate. Constructor Monthly, our electronic newsletter, kept
readers up to date with association news, business tips and member achievements.
Each month, we uploaded content to our dedicated website, www.constructormagazine.
com, where the digital companions to the print magazine are always housed. It’s safe
to say, if members are looking for quality stories and pieces on best practices, AGC’s
Constructor is the place to turn.
In between, we launched the Constructor Marketplace, an online purchasing
directory for the construction industry, which gives contractors access to services and
supplies they need to run their business. (See page 24 for a rundown of the many
benefits of this online buyers’ guide.)
In between, Constructor was named 2012 National Publication of the Year by
Naylor. It received this top recognition this January, by beating out more than 1,000
trade and professional association publications. Winners of this prestigious award
are determined based on product design, quality content and professional presentation. As the recipient of this award, Constructor represents great teamwork between
Naylor and AGC of America.
It was a great inaugural year for the new Constructor, but ‘between’ is now behind
us. I look forward to attending more AGC events, networking with more members,
telling more stories and enjoying more successes. I hope the same for you.
