Meets a Job Well Done
North of San Francisco in the Golden Gate Recreation Area
stands the Point Bonita Lighthouse, a fixture which as guided
ships through the Golden Gate for more than 150 years and is
accessible only by a suspension bridge. Years of salt air have
taken its toll on the span, and in 2011, Flatiron Construction
Corp. accepted the task of constructing a near-identical replica.
Overcoming unique challenges, implementing creative solutions
and recognizing environmental sensitivities contributed to
Flatiron receiving a 2013 Alliant Build America award for the
Point Bonita Lighthouse Pedestrian Bridge project. For the full
