Can-Do Attitude Meets a Job Well Done North of San Francisco in the Golden Gate Recreation Area stands the Point Bonita Lighthouse, a fixture which as guided ships through the Golden Gate for more than 150 years and is accessible only by a suspension bridge. Years of salt air have taken its toll on the span, and in 2011, Flatiron Construction Corp. accepted the task of constructing a near-identical replica. Overcoming unique challenges, implementing creative solutions and recognizing environmental sensitivities contributed to Flatiron receiving a 2013 Alliant Build America award for the Point Bonita Lighthouse Pedestrian Bridge project.
