Through this partnership, AGC will be a lead partner with Talent Albuquerque, an initiative of Innovate+Educate. AGC will work specifically with Talent ABQ to define a competency-based hiring and training pathway for citizens interested in entering the commercial construction industry. AGC will provide assessment and training resources at its Albuquerque location, as well as work to inform its members of the opportunities for employers. Talent Albuquerque was launched in August 2013 in partnership with the City of Albuquerque and the office of Mayor Richard Berry. Vicki Mora, CEO, stated "This partnership is an important step in AGC's overall strategy to continue to promote the opportunities for employment and advancement in our growing industry," stated Mora. "This is a natural progression from starting ACE Leadership High School to provide students a well-grounded education and real-world experience in our field. Talent ABQ will reach many of the citizens across New Mexico that might not have knowledge of the opportunities in our industry." The pilot will advance the ability for jobseekers to understand not only the jobs available in the industry, but also understand the skills and training aligned to those jobs. "Having AGC NM as a partner for Talent ABQ is a big win for us," said Jamai Blivin, CEO, Innovate+Educate. "AGC of America has adopted the Department of Labor (DOL) Competency model that supports skills-based hiring, a major component of Talent ABQ's mission. This will be the first city-wide effort in the U.S. to support full implementation of an industry-aligned model with skills-based hiring as the foundation." The Associated General Contractors of Virginia celebrated its 90 th anniversary in 2014. As part of this celebration, AGC conducted its 90 for 90 Campaign, the goal of which was to raise $90,000 from AGC members for the Wounded Warrior Project. The Wounded Warrior Project is an organization dedicated to providing support and assistance to members of our nation's armed services who have been injured in the recent conflicts in the Middle East. The culmination of the campaign took place on Saturday evening, Jan. 24, 2015, when the association presented a check for $94,100 to a representative from the Wounded Warrior Project. @Constr uctor Ma g Ma y / J u n e 2 0 1 5 | www.constructormagazine.com 45 SMITH, CURRIE & HANCOCK WELCOMES NEW TEAM MEMBER Smith, Currie & Hancock LLP, a member of multiple AGC chapters, recently announced that Scott C.
